Case Study - MOD Heating Upgrade
This project was tendered out to upgrade a class room block on an MOD camp from its existing out of date and failing 7 wall hung gas heaters to an external gas condensing boiler serving white standard panel radiators.
​
We got to work right away building the quote and a plan of works, ensuring careful consideration was given to each detail outlined on the tender document including our personal favourite - the "British racing green" GRP enclosure to house the boiler.
Not only does this boiler have built in frost stat / protection mode, but this system was dosed with a 30% Glycol mix to protect it down to temperatures as low as -10 degrees Celsius, paying close attention to manufacturers instructions.

This boiler was installed with an external temperature sensor and optimising controller allowing the boiler to run on its weather dependent curve, meaning as the outside temperature increases or decreases the flow temperature of the boiler automatically adjusts allowing the boiler to achieve excellent levels of efficiency, while still achieving the set room temperature - This really helps reduce the amount of gas used overall and reduce the buildings carbon footprint.

Targets and time frames were met on this project, we are proud to have simplified this for our client!
Not only did we remove the existing gas heaters but we bricked up inside and out "making good" as we call it of all areas and surfaces, right down to a coat of paint after the mortar / plaster had cured.
​
In total 9 white panel convector radiators were installed to ensure the classrooms / store rooms within the building would reach and maintain their design temperatures.
​
Surface mounted copper pipework was installed running alongside the existing surface mounted cable conduit.

All penetrations made for pipe routes were fire stopped as per
BS EN 1366-3:2021
